The Foundry - Widnes, Cheshire

Following major storm damage, the Foundry - a large church building with conference facilities and sports hall - was in need of not just repair work, but of a range of measures to reinforce the building structurally to prevent recurrence.

The job involved replacing all the high level windows with structurally reinforced panels, providing a new 1000 m sq + roof, and removing and replacing 1250 m sq of floors and coverings. Further upgrading included the sports hall floors, a 1200m sq suspended ceiling (much of this at 7m above ground level), a full electrical rewire, new commercial kitchen fitting, conference room refurbishment, structural testing and replacement of lighting rig in main auditorium, fitting new 6m x 28.5m canvas backdrop, design and build of stage with solid oak floor and integrated LED feature lights. New aluminium frontages were fitted to the building, along with a granite entrance and re setting of the steps. All toilet facilities were renewed, and the youth room and soft drinks bar were refurbished.

The project was completed in just 14 weeks and on budget.

Studio 410 - Rufford, Lancashire

Construction of an all timber building to create a high performance recording studio. The design was created in collaboration with wright design, our own audio engineers and the client to create a cedar clad and cedar shingle roofed building that blends with its surroundings.

Inside we created floating walls and ceilings with specialist insulations, adhesives and finishes to ensure audio perfection. The high tech design and traditional materials were used together to a no compromise effect creating an aesthetically pleasing quality finished product.

Landscaping Contract, Lancashire

For this client we re-landscaped one acre of garden from a waterlogged, unuseable grassed area to a beautiful, sculpted landscape with low voltage lighting, stone benches, spiral stone steps, dry stone walling, natural pond, lawns and plant beds

Also a large cedar deck was built outside the main property and the driveway was updated using materials that were hard wearing and beautiful.

The client was delighted: 'Before the Highlight construction team stepped in, our garden was nothing more than a large expanse of unusable grass. Steve brought to the table a whole host of great ideas that have now transformed our garden into a fantastic area that fuses the functionality required for a growing family with a design that really helps set our property off.'
